Saxdor 400Scandinavian sport boat charter in Mallorca

Saxdor is a young yard headquartered in Helsinki, and its boats are shaped around lightweight Scandinavian construction and a clean, modern line. The 400 shows both. Her wheelhouse is open and runs the full width of the boat, sheltered by a white hard top with a sunroof that slides back at the push of a button. Beneath her sits a twin stepped V hull drawn for twin outboard engines. At 12.4 metres long and 3.55 metres across, she is sized for quick days of coastal exploring rather than long passages.

Her cleverest feature shows itself at anchor. Sections of the hull side fold down to form decked terraces just above the water, opening the cockpit to the sea and widening the space where guests swim, sit and climb back aboard. In the cockpit a table sits in the shade of the hard top, and aft of it a sofa pulls out into a generous sunbed. Below deck there is one cabin and one head with a shower, a private place to change, rest out of the sun or rinse off after a swim. A single crew member skippers the boat, so a group of up to 12 is free to swim, eat and lounge at its own pace.

Then there is the toy list, surprisingly rich for a boat of this size. Two Seabobs pull swimmers along beneath the surface, the eFoil lets riders glide above it, and two paddle boards, snorkelling gear and an inflatable platform keep everyone else busy around the boat. With a 30 knot cruise and 40 knots at the top end, she suits a day out to the national park of Cabrera, the calas between Cala Llombards and Portocolom or the protected waters around Sa Dragonera, with the toys ready at every stop.
