Sessa 40 Flycompact Italian flybridge charter in Mallorca

Sessa Marine is an Italian yard based at Cividate al Piano, in the province of Bergamo, building open and flybridge boats with Italian design at their heart. The 40 Fly has a look of her own. Large feature windows are set into her topsides, and the flybridge reaches aft over a teak cockpit, keeping it in shade. At 12.6 metres long with a 3.9 metre beam, she is compact enough to feel personal with a small group on board, yet laid out so that nobody is ever far from the shade or the sun.

Two helm stations shape the way she is used. Inside, the lower helm sits forward in a bright saloon with a cushioned dinette and a galley opposite, so the skipper can run the boat in the shade with everyone close by. Up top, the flybridge helm sits beside a long sunbed and lounge seating, the place to be on a clear afternoon with the coast unfolding to one side. Between the two, the cockpit is the sociable heart of the boat: a curved, cushioned bench and a teak table for lunch, with steps leading up to the flybridge.

Below deck there are two cabins and two heads, so a group of up to 8 has privacy for changing and resting between swims, and one skipper looks after the boat. A 22 knot cruise, with 28 knots in reserve, is well matched to unhurried coastal days: a swim stop in Palma Bay, lunch near Puerto Portals, then a gentle run west to Port d'Andratx as the light softens. A paddle board and snorkelling gear come with her for the anchorages. Her charters are arranged from Mallorca, and the team tells you where to board once your dates are set. Day and sunset charters are her usual pattern, though a longer plan is worth raising with the team.
