Overview
The Explorer 62 pairs rugged explorer lines with genuine comfort on board. At 18.5 metres she takes up to 12 guests on a day charter, and below deck three cabins and three heads give everyone somewhere to change and rest while a crew of two runs the yacht. A glass garage door at the stern puts the tender on show, and her toy list leans firmly towards adventure.
The Explorer 62 is built in Italy by Explorer Yachts at the LOY shipyard, to a design by Centrostiledesign. Her hull is built in GRP, with a carbon fibre superstructure above it. She belongs to the explorer type and takes her cues from expedition yachts, with rigorous, functional lines and large opening windows. On this yacht the hull is finished in metallic grey with dark glazing, so she reads as something more rugged than the usual white flybridge in a Mallorcan anchorage, while a 5.2 metre beam keeps her decks generous for her size.
The stern is where she differs most. A central garage holds the tender behind an upward folding glass door, and a large beach at the stern makes swimming and handling the toys easy. On the main deck the galley sits forward beside the helm, which leaves the aft deck free for a dining table under the overhang and sofas facing the sea. A glass staircase leads up to the flybridge, where a second helm, a seating area, a mini galley and sunbeds sit beneath a hard top with adjustable slatted shading, so the balance of sun and shade can be tuned as the day moves on.
Three cabins and three heads lie below for changing and showering, and the crew of two keeps both yacht and toys running. The line-up is what gives her character: a Seabob, an electric surfboard, a paddle board and snorkelling gear, plus the Williams jet tender for trips ashore. With a cruising speed of 16 knots and a top speed of 24, she suits days built around a few well chosen stops rather than long passages, such as the cliffs towards Dragonera or the clear water around Cabrera. She is offered for day and sunset outings from Mallorca, with the berth confirmed once your dates are set, and a longer charter is open to discussion.
